Welcome
to the W. Ross Macdonald School, the only English language boarding and day school program for students who are blind,
partially-sighted, or Deafblind in Canada. As Principal of the School and Resource Services Department, I have the incredible fortune to work with committed
educators, support staff and professionals in a modern facility geared to meet
the needs of students
who are blind, have low-vision or who are Deafblind from
ages 5 to 21 years old.
Since
1872, students have been coming to Brantford to gain those skills necessary for
success in the postsecondary world.
Our graduates find success-they
gain the skills, the confidence and the resilience to tackle life head-on. They
enter universities, colleges, trades and find meaningful work and volunteer
experiences in their home communities.
Our programs have modernized, to
move beyond just our traditional school placements. Short Term Programs on
weekends, week-long programs through Connections, and Bridges, a unique
opportunity to begin post-secondary school while still benefiting from the
extensive services offered at WRMS have all brought new opportunities for
learning. Our programs are flexible to meet the needs of our unique learners.
Students
have the opportunity to meet others like themselves and build friendships that
last a lifetime. Well-being
is at the heart of what we do, a student with a strong sense of well-being is
ready to learn. As you explore our website to learn more about the W.
Ross Macdonald School,
remember our school motto:
“The
Impossible is Only the Untried.”

Principal, WRMS
